Town and development company work together in new
development project
Cornwall -- Jack Kelly, Mayor of the Town of Cornwall and
Tim Banks, President of APM today announced the
sale of a 50% interest in the Cornwall Business Park to
Island development company, APM.
The Cornwall Business Park was created by the Town of
Cornwall to foster the growth of the business community in
the Town. It consists of approximately 50 acres of full
serviced land strategically located on the Trans Canada
Highway.
“We are very excited to be partnering with APM,” said Mayor
Kelly. “We are confident in APM’s capability to move the
Cornwall Business Park forward which will lead to further
investments, jobs and opportunities in our community and
ultimately a stronger tax base for our residents.”
Mr. Banks indicated that he is eager to start aggressively
marketing the Park and says he will be able to announce the
first new tenants in a matter of days.
“Small and medium-sized businesses face many challenges
whether starting a new company or trying to expand an
existing one,” he said. “The Cornwall Business Park is a
wonderful asset for small business due to the fact that land
acquisition can be tailored to a particular company’s needs
which is significant in reducing start up costs or expansion
costs.”
In addition to acquiring an interest in the development, APM
will provide assistance to businesses in accessing programs
such as ACOA or PEI Business Development funding.
Mr. Banks stated: “The role APM intends to play is that of
facilitator. We want to work with small and medium-sized
businesses to create a cluster of activity that will be a
significant advantage to businesses within the Park as well
as being an economic engine for the Town of Cornwall.”
